crown molding question

Totally renovating kitchen. Having 42" upper cabinets and pantry cabinet that is 96 is tall. There is supposed to be a 4" crown molding above cabinets which means the ceiling should have been 100" tall.

Contractor made ceiling 98" inches tall, 2" shy. I brought this to his attention and he said don't worry about it they'll make it work.

What are my options? Cabinets are omega from home depot expo.

I don't know why the ceilings were not brought up to the right height. There was previously a drop ceiling and all the plumbing and electric was totally reworked. I think he could have gotten the two more inches. Drywall is up and spackled. Highhats are also up. I just happened to measure because I'm obsessing over everything.

I don't want to complain just to complain. My biggest concern is how it will look in the end. Will the proportions be right.

I also don't want to just go along with whatever he says his fix will be. I guess what I'd like to know is what would be the best option if the ceiling is not raised and if it would look like a workaround or if it would look right?

Are there standard size crown moldings that are supposed to be used with different size cabinets?
