Keeping bandsaw sharp

Anybody have any advice on bandsaw blades and keeping them sharp? I have tried several different kinds, carbide, regular steel and a spring steel one called "woodslicer" or something. But they all seem to go dull in not time at all and they are a royal pain to re-sharpen (takes about an hour).

I do mostly re-sawing, usually four or six inch stuff. I expect hardwood to dull them pretty fast, but I was slicing some cedar boards into shingles yesterday and even that dulled it in no time. Is is better to feed slower? I think I have the blade plenty tight, hardly any deflection. Maybe it's unavoidable with the physics of dragging the teeth through six inches of wood, but I would appreciate hearing other people's experiences.

The saw is a 14" grizzley, which seems to work wonderfully other than this issue.
