Yep, I was gonna try and be all "artsy free spirit" on it, and I ended up with PLAID. Which I honestly didn't notice until somebody said it here! I guess I'll always be a geometirc kinda gal..hmmph.

I LOVE IT!! I just love the pattern, it's going to look so awesome when you get it done!

I think I'm going to have to go buy a birdbath. Saw some at HD yesterday, but they were kind of fancy, and about $50. I think somebody here said they had them at the other place for about half that and more plain. Since I've not actually done any projects yet, plain sounds better to me.

I've not come across what I have to get to seal a birdbath yet, I'll keep looking, but if anybody wants to tell me that would be OK too :) (I am right that concrete needs to be sealed?)

I forgot to say I'm going to have to buy one after seeing your progress so far, and wanting to do my own. I'm loving it!

That is looking soooo great! I'm working on one with lots of curves that I didn't think I could use squares on. But after seeing how terrific yours looks, I'm finding some smaller flat places that will look better in squares (can only usually seem to work in triangles). thanks for the inspiration!

Working like a mad woman! Here I am starting to fill in with the purple. I'm not sure yet if I'll continue with that color or change into color bands. I'm afraid if I go into color bands it would take away from my main design. But then again..I LOVE color!

Truly one of the most beautiful pedestals I've seen on a birdbath. Do you have a reason for not covering the base? If I were mosaicing this base, I'd put some kind of tesserae around the base. I assume you're gonna put this on some other kind of base, sunk into the ground for leveling purposes. This is gorgeous, BAMA.

I hesitated on doing the very bottom of the base because I figured it would get knocked off moving it..if it's rolled along its edge. I knocked some tiles off of my pedistal by doing that. I think I'll go ahead and mosaic down to about 1/8th of an inch.
I really don't have a CLUE what to do on the bowl. The edge is already painted black. The underside had been painted too, so I'm gonna leave it like it is. But what to do on top? Ain't got no clue. Maybe I'll dream an answer tonight!

Wow the birds are going to see that from another state! Can't wait to see the finished work. For the top, I'd probably pick out three colors from the base (red, brown, green) and stick with the diamond pattern or something.
