I used BM Linen White on my cabinets. If you go to the finished kitchen blog, there are pictures of my kitchen there. Sorry, I never did get the hang of posting pictures directly in a message.

Sorry the kitchen is not finished, but this gives you an idea of the cream cabinets against a green wall, I hope anyway!! This kitchen will be finished in about 3 weeks and I'll be posting photo's when it is so stay tuned to this forum and the kitchen forum also.

Cream is great, but I would skip the glaze. For one thing it is a bit of a trendy thing and will date a kitchen (no insult to those with glaze - my cabs in my fairly new ktichen are glazed). Also, I've found with my own glazed cream cabs, it was harder to find a wall colour that went with the glaze.

The trend now (if you're into trends - just something to think about) is towards greyed out whites. Think mushroom.

budge, funny you mention that. Originally I wanted glazed cabinets, but then after thinking about it for a few months I realized I'd get tired of them. So I'm glad I went with just the straight cream stain over maple.

lisa, your kitchen is beautiful. Is your wall trim BM Linen white as well? My cabinetmaker told me that BM Linen White and BM White Dove were the 2 most requested colors he is asked to paint. I am still trying to decide as well, but grateful for the pics.

Yes, the trim is linen white as well. I changed out the trim in the rest of the downstairs to this as well, and I really like it. I think Dove white is very pretty too. I don't think you could go wrong with either one.

Thank you, Organic_smallhome! They're maple cabinets by Armstrong Allwood - Wellington Arch, and the color is Pearl (the island cabinets are Mocha). They're stock (or maybe semi-stock, I can't remember which), and fairly inexpensive but very well made. We've been very happy with them.

Now budge1, why did you have to go and rain on my parade? LOL I *did* think of that when I had them installed in my new house, but I fell in love with them the first time I saw them in a magazine. I don't think anyone could have swayed me in another direction. However, I do have a bank of dark cabs on a perimeter wall to break things up a bit.

I'll live with them should they become obsolete in the world of design. ;o)

hoosiergirl, did you see the photo I posted above? Look familiar? Should, because they are your identical cabinets, with the exception of the door style. Isn't that funny? You're the first person I've met with Armstrong cabinets. I was getting to feel a bit weird with me being the only one with them. You are right, they are inexpensive, but solid wood and well built.

I hope you don't mind me posting because my cabinets are not creamy white, but besides that I did the exact same thing that you are planning to do.

I repainted my old orangey oak cabinets with Brushing Putty to hide the grain then I painted them with BM Simply white. My floors are Vermont black slate and my walls are BM Louisburg Green. I have a very small kitchen and it was a TON of work, but I'm happy with the results.

How funny, Brutuses! When we were planning the kitchen I would frequent the kitchen forum, and I, too, thought it was odd that hardly anyone used Armstrong since they seem so well built and inexpensive, comparatively. Maybe it's because they're not sold in big box stores? Or maybe it's just because they're not as well known as other major brands? I don't know! I hope you are as happy with yours as we have been with ours!

hoosier, I went to see the progress on the house today and almost cried when I saw the beautiful molding up framing my cabinets. Wow, what a difference. I'm going to post an updated photo this afternoon or tonight, so stay tuned. I'll start a new thread when I do.

I don't know why Armstrong is such a well kept secret when they are selling fabulous cabinetry at reasonable prices. I started my cabinet search with Kraft Maid and found them very expensive for what they were offering. Then I went through a couple of custom guys, who were unreliable, and then ended up at Armstrong. With the exeception of a couple of the full overlay doors not matching up correctly, and them sending out the wrong color on some pieces, LOL, we're very pleased with the workmanship. Two more door corrections and we'll be in business!!
