To answer your questiion, yes I used a regular cheap light fixture from Lowe's or Home Depot. At first I tried one of those plastic holding screw thingie, but it felt unsafe, so I used metal.
It is still holding up well.

How exciting! I LOVE that light! I've got a hanging one that I plan to start as soon as I finish an Xmas gift for my BF. I hope it turns out as beautiful as that!

That is a beautiful light! I never would have thought to do something like that. It looks just like a leaded stained glass light. Do you have it in a room that you don't use the light often? I am just wondering how it changes the light in the room. I would love to do that to our dining room light but worry it would make the light dimmer.

It might make it a little dimmer in the room, but not much. I have those new energy efficient light bulbs in there, and after a few minutes they get lighter and lighter. Also use one other lamp in the room by the computer. Also when the grandkids come, they sleep in that room, and they like this starlight on until they fall asleep.
