I'm so sorry to hear that! All of your hard work and thoughtfullness that you put into those lovely pieces. I agree with you about paying that much to have them back.

Oh geez Annie! I feel so bad for you. I know you put a piece of your heart into making these objects. I'm miffed that your art was left in a car to tumble around for 3 weeks! Some people just don't understand how much time goes into making things.
But on the other side, someone who loved your art bought them (perhaps it was all they could afford) and I imagine they are THRILLED. They are soooo beautiful.
Don't stop because of this incident. You have such great talent.

Bama said it all. Obviously they had no appreciation for the amount of time and energy involved in creating such pieces of art. Please don't give up, you are a very talented person.

I am heart broken for you. All that BEAUTIFUL workmanship,LOVE and TIME. I can not imagine them not taking better care of them before the auction.

I understand because the same thing happened to me. I worked so hard on a table top for what I thought was a friend in exactly her colors and theme and it was a beautiful piece even if I say so myself. She just tossed dirty things all over it. We traveled with it for hundreds of miles too and I ad grouted it the night before we left. I told her she needed to put tile lab sealer on it and even took it with me but she already had HUGE dirt smudges all over it before we even left. I think I felt just like you did. That HURTS!!

That's so heartbreaking. My hubby's step mother, gave me all the things I had made for her over the years, when I was having a garage sale. She said " Here take all this, and see what you can get for all of it!" It Infuriated Me!

Hubby tosses my "creations" around VERY unthoughtfully and has broken so many that I HAVE to keep them away from him! He has issues of tidyness/vs. my clutter, and even goes and shuts lights, tv, heat off if I leave a room for more than 10 minutes!!! Grrr! I hate feeling unvalued by the people who should care the most! He has thrown so many good things away that he considers junk, it is like I have to keep a vigilance!!! Everybody has echoed my opinions on this and just remember someone bid on them not even knowing that there was a bb!!! I bet they'd really be blown away to have seen that with them! Jane

Oh, Annie, I am so sorry! Some people just don't get it...beautiful handcrafted mosaics like yours are timeless creations. I'm with you and everyone above - wouldn't do it again....just wait till they ask or "hint" about the auction next year, then sweetly tell them exactly why you have chosen to place your art pieces with those who will value them, not abuse them.

Oh, Annie, I am sorry; I had something similar happen to me. I donated two of my best birdhouses to the Paul Newman Hole in the Wall auction on eBay two years ago. I set the price at the very bottom, hoping that people would start bidding against each other; one man from Odessa, Texas, bid on both of them; no one else bid so he got them both for a rock bottom price which didn't even cover the materials. Then he never left me feedback! Insult to injury. I emailed him and he replied that he liked them both very much, but still didn't leave feedback. Oh well . . . . . .

Oh well, it was for a good cause... still 50$ they didn't have before... just sort of bummed because it could have made SOOOO much more for them. As we all know that your collection should have done had they not mistreated your art work like that. It was so inconsiderate and disrespectful. My table going like it did was just a bad turn out for a fundraiser. But what happened to you was done to you and I'm not sad about it, I'm MAD as H*LL!

Dear Annie! My heart ached for you when I read your post! Makes me question whether to do the projects I have in mind for Christmas, even if they ARE small. (I probably will. I did think about printing out this thread and putting it in with each gift...!)

Annie, a second thought is that you need to call them and let them know the value of your art (based on your previous experiences), not counting the travel costs, your disappointment in their callous treatment and then tell them to return it to you. I do hope you get it back. I am so sorry for you but have confidence you will learn from this and be a stronger person.
