Thanks for the slide show. I gives me some ideas. So is that tape around the edges and then you filled it with the spray foam stuff? Then cement or thinset?
But how did you form the wire stars themselves.
I know too many questions.

no not at all! each ray of the star is cut out, creased and sewn with wire to the others then I added drywall tape over the edges to "finish" them becase there was rough wire ends. I think it also helped keep the foam from going through much.

It was a 1 part cement and 2 parts playsand.

That star is just gorgeous!

What about the auction?? I didn't get to hear how it went! These stars turned out to be such an awesome idea!!

Nicethyme, I love the way your star turned out. I am also trying hard to use colors I do not usually use. Hard for me but I think I am likeing it!! LOL

Thanks everyone. I like and use all colors, you can see what I had in my inventory but pairing certain colors is where I'm not so brave. I tend to work in monocromatic schemes and when I see bama's birdbath and how she'll place all those bold primary colors in her designs and it's so spectacular... I really just looked at the star as experimental to see how many colors I could get on there without looking gross...

Yep all the girls had their stars at school the following day to show their art teacher.

I thought YOU were pretty good with colors, too, though - I recall your first piece - the garden ball with PURPLE and RED? Gosh, I loved that ball. Oh say, how is that ball doing, anyway....is it still hanging in there? I remember that you had some problems after it went outside to live?

Oh I love that! It looks like something I could attempt,too:) My DH bought all these cans of that foam,and bought the wrong kind(we needed door and window) and he didn't return it:)Beautiful work! Loved the slide show how-to:)
