Are your Plier tips still in? Sounds like you may need new ones.

And there's a screw control on them too. Adjust that and see.

My first thought was that the screw got wiggled out too far.

Oh, my bad. I use the cheapo plastic running pliers. I've never tried the metal ones.

I wore out the first pair of the plastics in a few weeks. Got the metal ones from HobLob. Can't figure out WHY HobLob doesn't carry the tips. I emailed HobLob a few days ago asking why but no reply yet. It just doesn't make sense to sell an item w/o replacement parts. Oh, well, neither does Harbor F. sell replacement tips for my soldering gun.

Where should the screw be?I'm not sure what the screw is for?

Well, I've tried messing with the screw but no luck. I'm either not touching the glass or still smashing it. I guess you're telling me I just have to keep "screwing" with it until I get it set just right??

Sometimes mine get tiny tiny pieces of glass embedded in them and then they don't break well. Have you looked for that?

Are you trying to break pieces less that 1/4" wide? I can't break those smaller pieces to save my life. Crush yes, break cleanly, no.

I'll have to look and be sure they are clear of any little pieces. The pieces I've been trying to break are about 1/2".

Gibsona, I just read something about the care of these but can't remember where that was. I remember reading to do everything you have been advised to do - check the screw, the tips, and clean out any glass shards. You might want to contact the maker of them to get recommendations. Let us know if you learn anything we should know.
