My first GOG project

OK, you were all right about saying that if I tried it I would be hooked!!! I AM...I hope my link works. It is nighttime here now, so the lamp is the only lighting I have behind it... just doesn't do justice... hoping the sunlight will do better..

OH That is pretty. Love the colors. Heheheh Glue one piece and it is all over for you. There is no going back now.

What an adorable little window! Did you use silicone or glue? If silicone, watch for it smooshing up the side!
Can't tell if you grouted yet, You sure are Fast!!!

Well Cal J, it is a small window, around 12" X 14", and I used the ge silicone ll, clear. I had no idea what all of those comments about glue everywhere meant until I did this... now it all makes perfect sense...I didn't put it on thick enough to smoosh up the sides. my question now though is: what to use to clean up the glass on the mosaic as I didn't do it as I went along.. it's not globs or anything, it's just little bits here and there and some with like a film over them. Glass cleaner helps but not to my satisfaction... I did not grout it...was thinking of not doing that. I did use the crushed colored glass for some of the small areas to fill in.
Has anyone put another glass pane over their mosaiced side? I was thinking that would protect it even more, or would it look tacky?
All suggestions and comments appreciated... bring 'em on... I need all the help I can get...thanks, Dottie

Isn't this fun?? As for getting off the GEII well, mostly just scraping it off. If you grout that helps with it some. I think most of us resort to some sort of scraping method, though. I use a razor blade or my finger nail.

Welcome to the horror of GE II cleanup. It's a wonderful product to hate. Fingernails, razor blade and in the end, fine steel wool under a small screwdriver is what I use. I'm trying to get away from it altogether cuz I'm such a slob w/it, I get it all over the place. I'm getting back to thinset, but of course, if I ever do a GOG, I'll HAVE to use the horrible stuff.

Congratulations EMTNEST! I second SLOW's suggestion of using very fine steel wool. It also shines up a piece, as a final touch.
