i'm actually doing this in my daughter's room. i'm going to have the draperies sewn with velcro along the edges and nail a fabric wrapped beam to the ceiling -also with velcro on the bottom. i thought this was the best way to be able to remove them for cleaning. it works well and it's fairly simple.
i've sween it done using curtain rods as well, but the velcro seems sturdier.

Another idea would be to use chain(on each corner) and cover the chain with fabric cord covers. I've seen them in stores such as Hobby Lobby, Marshall's. etc., but it would be a piece of cake to make them. Large teacup hooks, or hanging plant hooks would be ideal for holding the chain. ;o)

Another idea is to use a wire curtain hanging track hung from the ceiling. The curtains could then be hung from clip on rings. It would be easy to install. Ikea has the wire tension track I am thinking of and the curtain rings. Sorry, I don't know the correct name.
