Hi, my idea is a little different, but... what about painting out (to match) the high ledge over the roosters? Then you don't have to necessarily come up with anything, and the space will look clean and uncluttered. Just because a place comes with certain features doesn't mean you have to do something with them after all and if it means you're wracking your brains to fill a space with no other advantage or function, why bother? Unless of course you really want to :-).

Have you looked in our Gallery? I'm thinking the Home Offices thread and the Living Rooms thread might have something. Thanks, larke. Something to ponder. I think the problem is that having seen what the ledge in my office looks like at night, softly lit, I'd love to do it elsewhere. But it's not an absolute.
