One window primed...

...12 more to go. Took me 4 hours to tape & put 2 coats of primer on this big window. I have 3 like this one to do and 2 that are similar but slightly smaller. Plus other windows that smaller.

I've read in fashion articles that a woman should have a signature scent. Mine must be Alkyd Primer.

Encouragements to focus and persevere will be much appreciated :)

No picture showing up for me but I'll grab my pom poms for ya! One thing, though...... I never tape no matter what and we have divided lite windows and french doors all over our house. I use a good angled trim brush, and a single edge razor blade to clean up the glass after the paint is dry. Much faster than taping which in my experience is no guarantee anyway.

Oh darn it... Sometimes the direct picture links work and sometimes not. It's a common complaint with Pbase, where I host my pictures. I'd switch, but their picture quality is so good. Here's a link to the page House Reno

I've tried painting & scraping, but I swear it takes me just as long to scrape the paint as it does to tape the windows.

Pom poms -- LOL! Thanks for the humor :)

I hate taping too and think dlm2000 has a good idea. You can do it, you are on a roll! What color will you paint the exterior?

I'm trying dlm's technique right now. Will see how long it takes to scrape paint off glass tonight.

The exterior will be fiber cement shingle painted white. The roof is red. I thought that would be a nice traditional farmhouse color combo to go with the 2 over 2 pane farmhouse-y windows. A pediment was supposed to be built over the door, but contractor says can't do it without tearing down the existing overhang and rebuilding it. So the pediment idea is out. The expanded porch came out very nice with the new stone facing, so maybe we don't need the pediment for design oomph.

Those are some BIG windows girl, glad it's you and not me. It shall get done in due time, don't stress. I painted many a window in my youth and the whole outside of a house when I was in my late 20's and had three little kids...........heaven know what I did with them, maybe hung them from the clothesline that I had up! (hung clothes out sometimes too.)

Well, I'll be right there with ya soon. We should close on our new house in another week or so and I will be painting all the interior windows. Not the trim but the windows themselves. (What was I thinking?)

I will probably not tape since DD actually likes to scrape paint off glass! That, and I know it will be a slow process, and I'd rather not be looking at blue tape for weeks! Although a blue mess might serve as inspiration to get it done.

OK, now that I see your pictures, you can do this! Those windows will be a piece of cake - paint 'em then zip, zip, zip with a blade and you're done!

Now THIS is a picture of painting hell! There's another door out of camera range on the other side of the fireplace - and this is only one room! My whole house is like this with multi-paned doors and windows! Want to trade painting jobs? No? I didn't think so ;-)

Interesting how many women paint their own windows! Amysrq, good luck with your new house. Be sure & post before & after pictures of your windows.

dlm, beautiful house! It's the multi-paned windows that make it so lovely ;)

susan, windows AND the exterior too? Wow!
