Love Rosle - high quality and gorgeous design! Home Goods recently had a good number of pieces for half the price of retail!

the rails system sounds cool.

just fyi, you shouldn't use a garlic press, as it imparts a bitter, hot, pungent flavor to garlic. garlic should always be sliced thinly or minced, not smashed.

OT: re garlic: while edlakin you are correct in that this is the prevailing wisdom, Cooks Illustrated has done comparative testing and they conclude that garlic presses extract flavor efficiently and are a reasonable alternative to painstaking mincing. (of course, realize that I'm a lazy boy and am always looking for a shortcut).

now that I'm going to have this fancy new kitchen I will have to take my cooking to a higher level... BUT I think I still need a garlic press. I cook with a lot of garlic and love how much time it saves and you don't even have to peel the garlic. I'll have to do a blind taste test on my husband to figure this one out.

also, thanks the Home Goods tip... the one around here is a bit of a hike for me so I don't get in there too much.

I am definitely planning on getting the kitchen timer that goes with the Rosle rail system but figure I'll ask for it for my B-day or mother's day...
