Are Artisan Sinks Good Quality?

All of the granite shops I go to sell Artisan sinks with their installations. I told them I wanted a Kindred, but they all tell me their sink is better because it is 16 guage.

Any experience or comments on the Artisan sink would be very much appreciated.

Is it true that a sink is a sink and how you take care of it is what makes the difference?

I'm about to order Artisan sinks this week (unless someone says something to make me change my mind!) . I liked the look and the fact that they sound very quiet. They seem to compare favorably to some that are more expensive. However, I don't really know if 16 vs 18 gauge makes a difference. Consumer Reports, for example, doesn't rate sinks by model and says that under a certain gauge everything is pretty much the same ( but they didn't test 16 gauge sinks). I have also read some who claim that Ticor's 16 gauge is not quite as thick as 16 gauge made here, but don't know if that is true(or makes a difference). I know that many people here are very happy with them. In the end, I'm just going for the convenience of having my builder get this - any issues and he'll take care of it. One thing the sink doesn't have is an offset drain. I'm ordering the grid (about $82 for the 3118-D9) and the drain ($15) separately.

I have an Artisan sink and I'm happy with it. Seems like a great quality sink to me, but it's a sink, I'm not that sure what could be much different about another sink.

I've seen a lot of recommendations for the Ticor sinks, which are a little cheaper than the Artisans, but I did get a great deal on my Artisan at overstock.com.

We also bought an Artisan from overstock.com. Great sink, heavy guage, well made, has a coating on the outside to reduce noise, etc. They are expensive, but you can find deals. We did have to pay full price for the grid from another source.

I was at a fabricator's yesterday and they had the Artisan sink there so I asked the fabricator about them - he says they are nice, cost him about $200 (it was a double sink, one a bit smaller than the other) and sells them for about $235.

I took a look at the Artisan and didn't see any quality diff between it and the Ticor except that the Ticor is generally cheaper and comes with the expensive sink grids - it didn't look to me like the Artisan came with them.

I had googled Artisan sinks for my parents who are contemplating a kitchen spruce-up. All reviews that I found were favorable.

Artisan sinks are made from the highest quality stainless steel and are certified as a true 16 ga product. Without certification you can not be sure a sink is 304 stainless or what the true gauge is. If you think a sink is a sink think about this. Once you CUT THE HOLE IN THE GRANITE...YOU OWN IT..if the sink quality is not good you are stuck. Get the best quality which is 16 ga and make sure that the company is well known. You can see Artisan in many publications such as Kitchen Trends, Better Homes, Signature Kitchens, Food and Wine...great product

We ordered an Artisan sink and returned it -- not because of the quality but because of the dimensions.
