Kitchen backsplash help

Hello all, i am new to this forum but am hoping you all can help me.

We are currently deciding what we want to remodel in our kitchen. Currently, we have Aristrocraft Cabinets in Kincaid Saddle in our house. They were just put in before move-in so I think we will be keeping those. We also have dark hardwood flooring throughout the house. Our granite is Santa Cecilia (the previous owners installed it the month before we moved in so I don't really think we should change it). We currently have a tile backsplash(Rainforest Earth is the name of it) but I'm just not crazy about it, mostly because the rest of our house has all blue accents and hues and then the kitchen backspalsh has random green hues.

So my question, I really want to do some sort of blue/green glass backspalsh (similar to DalTile's Glass Reflections Winter Blues) or glass subway tiles (or even regular subway tiles...but what color if I'm trying to stay in the blue color family) but I'm not sure how that would really look with my granite. The granite is fairly earthy but I don't really want to add travertine tiles. If I had my choice I would put soapstone in (and do subway or glass tiles for the backsplash) but it just doesn't make sense since the granite is brand new.

So, what do you all think? Do you have any suggestions? Do you think adding a glass backspalsh will look bad with the granite...help!!

And, if you made it through my long post to this point I thank you!

It would really help if you could post pics. Some Santa Cecelia has alot of gold and others are more cream. I love blue myself but would need to see your granite/cabinets to decide if I think it could work.

Well unfortunately I am at work and don't ahve pictures so i'll have to post some later tonight, but these two photos look very similar to our granite.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your excellent taste in color :) I will always vote for blue but would like to see some pix before commenting on a particular shade. (My big splurge was blue granite, ICYWW about my name.)

That helps alot! As soon as I saw the pic like your granite I thought that something in the grey/blue family would work and I think the tile you picked out fits that bill. There are so very many glass tiles to choose from . Here is a link for a very popular tile source on this forum. Many people have bought from them and the good part is you can custom blend any pattern with any colors you want. I haven't gotten to that point yet but I understand that the company is extremely helpful in assisting you in deciding on a custom blend.

THANK YOU remodelfla. I really like blue/gray/silver sage...in fact, most of our house is decked out in Restoration Hardware 'Silver Sage'...haha

Question, do you think that doing 1x1" tiles with the granite would make it look to busy? Maybe I could do a mix of glass subway tiles (in one color)under the cabinerts and then add the checkboard tiles above the sink...hmmm, so many options...

and thanks for the link, i will definitely check it out!!!!

What if you did the glass subway in a muted color with the 1x1 glass mosaic as a 3" or 4" high border? Are you striving for a more traditional or more contemporary look?

Yeah that is also what I was thinking (i like the border idea)...when you say muted, what did you have in mind? I was thinking "Whisper green" to stay in the color family...if you scroll down to where the solid tiles are shown you can find it there..

What about something like this?...either the one in the middle or on the bottom

I really like the idea of some contrast and not to overdo the blue. I think the one of the bottom with the right blue/grey blend of glass tile would be perfect. If you go for the honed finish on the larger tiles, there are glass tiles that are like beach glass (kinda frosted yet translucent) that might work beautifully.
