That was fun! I've done similar quizzes on the HGTV site and it always comes out differently, and sometimes completely wrong. On this one I was doubtful, because for so many of the photo choices, I wanted to say "Neither" and picked the least objectionable. But my result was Loft, and even though I can't agree with "Fashion Driven", I love and really am the rest of the description. The example rooms were cool and I found myself really drawn to the Earth rooms, and bits and pieces from the Meadow or West Side ones.

That really was fun!

Oh, that was fun! Three out of three times they called my style "GLOBAL"... and I guess that's about right. We have a real mix of things, some simple antiques, quite a bit of Danish teak mid-century stuff, with natural nubbly white carpets or kilims or oriental rugs, art we've collected from our travels, natural things we've collected like shells, and then some 60's and 70's wacky modern things thrown in the mix. Room colors are generally pale earthy neutrals. Lots of plants and orchids.

I love both.

Interesting. The first time I did it I pretty much didn't like either choice for most of them and picked the lesser of two evils. That time I was Global which has some similarities with me. The second time there were quite a few choices I actually liked and I came out Estate - which did sound more like me. The third time came out Metro - which is really not me but I can see why it ended up that way as I'd always choose clean, simple lines over the frilly, ornate choices.

I get an F for not reading all the way through the OP! I didn't see that the choices changed each time, so went back and did the quiz 3 more times. 1 Estate (only like the Guest House) and 2 Loft to go with my first Loft result. Something about their photos are like being transported/taking a vacation and going on house tours. I know that sounds sappy, but I think that's why this quiz is fun for me. Then i come back to reality and look at my messy desk area...

Wow. I got Glamor, Country, Glamor. Then, I came back here and read your results and couldn't figure out how come I didn't at least get Global or Estate or some other choices which at least sound like they would be me. So, I took the quiz again. This time, I came back to Country. Gee, guess that makes me a glamorous country girl! LOL!

Just as I suspected, I have no style. I got different results every time. No wonder I struggle with decorating. Thanks, though, that was fun.

Marthavila, thanks-- maybe I am just a style slut. A lot of different styles appeal to me (probably why I enjoy seeing different kitchens here so much). For the record, I was Estate, Global, and Villa!

What was really fun for me was checking out the palettes they have for the different styles. I'm more of a Villa than any of the others, although my taste is pretty eclectic and unique. Villa kind of fits, however.

Loft, which I scored first and only once, is a palette I like though it's not really me. Whereas the ones I scored most often, Glamour and Country House, both have elements I like, but a lot of elements I really dislike.

This was VERY interesting. Especially when the computer got really confused and kept going back and throwing up more pairs. :-)

This is a really badly designed website. I was taught, emphatically, when I was learning web development, that one should always make the operators, that is the links, buttons, sliders, etc., obvious. Don't make people have to push their pointers all over to figure out what's clickable on a commercial site. (That's what you do in a find the hidden loot game!) The Ethan Allen site is very pretty, but it's impossible to see what the links are and to understand what they're getting at. Not to mention that the elements in the style palettes are just crying to be clickable to take you to a room using that element...

ECLECTIC RULES!!

Yeah, that was fun! I tried it twice and got estate each time. I am still sorting out my kitchen choices (and still sometimes questioning some of the ones I have already made! Sigh! I am on a time constraint) At least my choices were consistent on this... So, now I am wondering all of you ESTATE gals,...how did that translate to your kitchens?
I have chosen white cabinets and have white oak floor. I looked at soapstone today...still no decision. I love grey, blue,cream, and white. And I love the colors of sea glass. Marble is beautiful, but I think I am going against it because of the etching/staining issues. Any countertop suggestions?

fleur22, I'm an Estate girl and your colors you mentioned are exactly what I incorporated into my kitchen. White cabinets, oak floors, white and grey Carrara marble countertops, light blue walls. I adore sea glass and used some glassy green and blue accessories in my kitchen and in the adjoining family room.

Have you collected a lot of inspiration photos? I have a huge collection that really helped me make my kitchen style choices. I think soapstone or honed black granite, butcher block and creamy granites are all beautiful choices. I chose marble, wood and stainless steel counters.

I had to take it four times to get a repeat answer. I scored Country, Estate, Glamour, Estate. I really do like elements of all these things. I am a contradiction - I love contemporary but am decorating fairly traditionally with a updated touches. I like simple lines, not a lot of clutter - would rather showcase a few special objects than a large collection. I tend to go for neutrals as a backdrop but use accessories and artwork to bring in color. Certain styles have grown on me - a few years ago I would have never believed I would be putting in a wood floor in a kitchen!

At first when estate came up for me, I thought, huh, I don't like grand and stuffy but then I looked at the examples and my other results and realized that my style is classic and tradition with a twist. I look around my house and see my mix of family heirlooms and antiques along with new contemporary pieces and rich colors and think, yup, that's right. (take my interpretation with a grain of salt. I really should be in bed asleep but that coffee I had this morning is keeping me up. After giving it up for 9 months, I guess a little goes a long way now.)

My plan for my kitchen is medium walnut stained red oak floors, quartersawn white oak cabinets with a raised panel for lower perimeter cabinets, island and hutch (stained lighter than the floors), creamy beige painted upper cabinets (our existing GO oak cabs), satin finished butterfly blue granite, beige subway tile, oil rubbed bronze cabinet hardware and lighting. And cheery red pinch pleat curtains at the windows because they make me smile. ;-)

Me, too, pattyk_64! Glamour? Me? The person who lives in jeans and t-shirts most days? (And truth be told, often goes without make-up.) But I did like some of the frilly, sparkly things that showed up in some of the glamour rooms. Maybe that's my inner glamour child speaking!

I'd like to know more about how people's styles are reflected in how they design their kitchens. I never gave it a thought until fleur222 asked but now I am curious. I want to make sure that my choices reflect me and aren't just a whim of the moment.

I know it would be a lot of work but wouldn't it be great if we could sort the finished kitchens by style?

I ended up with loft and global. Even my kids thought the description for loft style sounded like me. Mix in the spicy, rich colors of global, and that's what I love!

I re-discovered something I've known for some time, from many visits to the EA showrooms when I lived in the Twin Cities.

I don't really care for what EA has to offer. I took the quiz multiple times, and then went and looked at all the styles and decided NONE of them would be something I want in my house. That is probably why I kept getting different answers. I liked a few of the peices in each style, but I don't care for any of them as a whole.
