I saw it at All Marble and Granite in Ridgefield, NJ. It is beautiful, but it didn't seem very durable; the guy showing me slabs picked up a hunk of it and whacked it against another slab and a big piece broke off. I think it would be okay for a low-use area but wouldn't put it anyplace where it might get a heavy pot dropped on it.

Thanks Anna. It seems odd that it would break given its high hardness rating on the Mohs scale (at least according to the company website) but that is what I was afraid of.

I asked about it after admiring it a few times. The slab yard said they've barely sold any of it because it scratches easily. It's beautiful though.

Hello, I am so interested in the Glassos as a kitchen counter top.

Has anyone installed it as yet? I think the yard is in New Jersey for it. I am in Md and they told me only their guys should really install it as it is tricky. I am using white kitchen cabinets and wanted a white crystal like counter top. thanks. joyce.

I used it in my kitchen as a countertop for the perimeter of my kitchen and it was the best decision I made. It was surrounding my stove...which gets splattered with many oils and sauces which was NEVER a problem. I used windex to wipe it clean and it was like new. I am having a hard time finding the slabs in the midwest. I bought it from Marble America in New Rochelle, NY.

Hi Mindy. Thank you for the complement. I do not have the brand name, but the description on my invoice is Chevron white/light gray. I bought it at Marble America in New Rochelle. They might be able to give the brand name.

Thank you for your response. I did not realize that your perimeter counter top is different from the island counter top. I assumed both were same. But your backsplash definitely goes very well in the kitchen.

Is your perimeter counter top a clear glass or does it have any 'gray' color undertones?

The backsplash is marble. The perimeter counter is a product called GLASSOS. Its a very pure white engineered glass. Its shiny and extremely durable and easy to care for. The island is Quartzite...Everest White. It has grey in it and thats why I chose a backsplash that could bring it together.

Somehow from the picture the perimeter counter top does not look like a glass. It looks like pure white quartz. Usually when I think about glass, I think about clear and light reflective material. but it sure looks beautiful in your kitchen!

Is it comparable to Cambria quartz counter tops from price point of view?

Thanks Amy. I don't remember the manufacturer, but if you search for crystal sphere pendant lighting, similar ones will pop up. They were 12 inches in diameter and not expensive

Hi Jlevine! I am wondering how your glassos countertops are treating you! I love them! Live near Marble America!

I've used Glassos in two master baths for the countertops - no issues at all with any chipping (like marble), but a bathroom counter is not under the same duress as a kitchen counter. I love it, cleans up with Windex and looks beautiful. I do remember the first installation (2009) was tricky.

@mar Mary would you mind sharing photos of the glassos in your bathroom? I'm thinking of doing the same on the vanity countertops because I'm worried of etching the marble. Thanks.

CCS Stone in Moonachie, NJ carries Glassos. I have bought granite from them in the past they are very good fabricators, so I just happened to read about this product. Wondering how it compares to granite as I am looking into countertop for my white kitchen cabinets

I installed glassos in my apt in 2011 and it’s one of the best decisions I made. We have 3 kids and with dry erase markers they draw pictures on the countertops, practice math homework, and leave funny notes for my husband and I. Cleans easily with any household cleaner. Love it.

I have glassos for kitchen counters, I will never go back to granite! I also used it in two bathrooms.
