okay, but i'm suddenly having a LOT of anxiety. what if it's awful? what if i hate it? what if i spent all of this time and effort (and cold-hard-CASH) and it's not what i had in mind?

    this is all normal, right?

This is very normal!! I was afraid to look at mine when they were first being installed. And don't be surprised if it's not love at first sight! My granite was so different from my white formica counters that when they were first put in I was sort of in shock and not sure that I liked them. It's natural to be nervous when it's such a huge financial (and time) investment. I love my counters now and continue to be so happy that I chose them. Good luck! How exciting!!

Normal...But if there is any kitchen I think I can guarantee won't be ANYthing close to awful, it's this one! You have planned the details to the tee, have amazing materials and design...It will look like your drawings, which are fantastic. Have faith!

It will be fantastic - but totally normal to stress about it! Good luck tomorrow.

"what if it's awful? what if i hate it? what if i spent all of this time and effort (and cold-hard-CASH) and it's not what i had in mind? "

Not to worry, you will luuuuvvvvv it. I guarantee you will find yourself hugging it....several times.

    Can't wait to see photos!

I was a wreck yesterday. They ripped my old kitchen out today. Seeing my crappy sink and cabinets pulled out and lying on the curb boosted my confidence. It's such junk, people are driving by it. No one is taking any of it LOL. I am more confident than ever that this is a good use of my time and money. My install starts tomorrow. I've got the wine out already.

kate - you're going to love it. I know that I'm having some problems letting go of the planning and going to implementation. At work, we call that paralysis by analysis. Once you get past that, it feels good.

Best of luck and post pix - Jo Ann

THANK YOU all so much. you have no idea how much i appreciate your kind words ...and faith! i'm going to trust all of you -like i've done so often in the past and just let it all happen.

oy! sounds good but i'm still a little freaked out! ugh ...i need to get the stone guys in here... yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Hooray for install day! You will love it and will love that you planned everything!

You finally made it to here...even with a crazy funny contractor, nearly setting yourself on fire, and the many many delays. So exciting. It will all be fine. I remember the same gut-wrenching feeling when they brought my cabinets and started the kitchen--somewhere between excitement and throwing up. With a whole house remodel like we are doing, it can be SOOOOOO hard to keep yourself from second-guessing everything since there so many details and decisions.

May there be many many tomorrows that make your project finish soon! We are moving in Monday after 16 months living with my mom and am almost delerious with joy and relief....I think I need to be sedated until then!

I wonder if the paralysis by analysis is mostly due to "nothing to do now". We spend every minute of our time and effort finding everything for the new kitchen and then BAM! Nothing. Hurry up and wait. The decisions have been made, materials ordered. Bridges burned. Can it be worse than what you have now?

It will be totally gorgeous!!!!! Fret not, at all....And it will be done relatively soon. Your dreams,,,,,reality. Enjoy your hard work. Happy Kitchen.
