Small, tiny, or no backsplash?

Hi everyone, yet another backsplash question. I am renovating my galley kitchen (see pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/snarkyinla/sets/72157630090681014/). The saltillo mexican tile floor is staying throughout but I am refacing my existing cabinets and extending out the countertop and adding bottom cabinets along the full length of the dining room wall (see image).

The end result will be espresso cabinets with blizzard white caesarstone counters (something like this: http://www.decorpad.com/photo.htm?photoId=89358). The appliances will be stainless steel, and the range has a pretty high "back" so the space between the range and hood will be much smaller than what you see in the pics now.

There will be a 4" caesarstone backsplash along the countertop throughout. Other than that, though, I was not planning on having a backsplash on the sink side, and for the range side I can choose to have no backsplash (just painting over stains I can't clean as time goes on); having a backsplash JUST between the range and hood; or putting backsplash exactly where it is now -- which means it will end under the existing upper cabinets even though the countertops will continue on, and I think that might look strange...

Once I figure out how much I'm doing, then I move on to the challenge of WHAT backsplash I do...

Thanks in advance for all replies!
