A hard day's work and we're 90% done!

Hi all,

The granite people came yesterday and installed my granite and today my electrician came and we worked 10 hours together until finally we both sank to the floor exhausted and DONE :)

I still have more work - thinking about my backsplash on the window wall and I have to put up molding, finish off casement window, finish plumbing, etc. but I couldn't wait to post pics here - hope you like 'em!

In case you're wondering the wine is already open and half gone ;)

Really beautiful! Do share granite details. I'm not a granite fan generally but this works really nicely with your cabinets.

Oh, so pretty! I just love it! Is that a gray silgranite sink or a stainless? What a great job you did. Congrats!

    Looking great! Faucet details please!

Wow! (Again.) Normally I think two islands makes too many barriers in a kitchen, but it looks like it works really well.

Details! Details! Details! We need Details!

Thanks for all the great comments! I'm so glad you like it :) I really owe so much to all of you for your help and inspiration. Here are some details...

The granite is called New Aran Blue - it's really not blue but grayish brown. It has little crystal inclusions that I just love.

The cabinets are custom from Country Cabinets in Uxbridge MA - the same shop that did mnhockeymom's! So a huge thanks to her as I read about her experience here and decided to take a ride out there. They are natural maple with a white stain and everything is bookmatched (grain is all lined up on doors, drawers). They were amazing and I highly recommend them to anyone in MA regardless of style. I really believe they could do ANYTHING.

The sink is gray silgranit. I was planning on stainless but I had a thought that I'd rather have it blend into the granite. Read everyone's rave reviews here and voila, a sink was ordered.

The faucet is a KWC Eve (no light). Much thanks to sue in ct who helped me out with that. I was originally going to order from Chicago Faucet Shoppe but then I found out that you could make an offer at Faucet Depot and I figured what the heck - they accepted an offer that brought it to the high end of my acceptable price range :)

Sally - there's really only one island - the second pic is a peninsula that took the place of a half wall into what will be a lounge. We're thinking four comfy chairs and more wine!

    Thanks again everyone!
