pitterpat7, Look for colors in your granite that you want to bring out in your kitchen. If you don't want any pinks, find a granite without any pink tones. I am looking at Golden River which has some grays in it which you might like. Maybe someone will have a picture.

On my monitor your walls look like a pale green. If so, why
not go with a granite with some green tints to it. Typhoon
Green has light green, streaks of black, and small "dots" of
the cherry color. Do your backsplash in a very neutral tone
that does not have any pink cast to it. I think that would
take away from the pink cast. Maybe someone else has another
suggestion.

Thank you both for your suggestions. The place I looked at didn't have too many options, so maybe I need to venture out to a few more places...

We just put granite in our kitchen - last week. We have maple cabinets with a Mocha glaze and selected typhoon Bordeaux. One recommendation is to negotiate your price. We were given a price of $79/sq ft and negotiated down to $55/sq foot for an exotic granite.

I have Yellow River granite. It is definately browns, rusts, blacks and creams with shots of slate blue and hits of garnet. I think it might work, however, have you thought of staining your "pink" cabs with some gel color to tone them down a little? There have been some great threads on this in the past.

Now, be forwarned, not all Yellow River granite is the same. Some has lots of movement and is very clear, like mine, and some is duller in color and no movement. Some, like mine, has lots of blue and others don't. Check out other granite yards to see what is available before you make a decision and best of luck to you. Please post pictures when done.
