track lighting

When planning our kitchen to meet our budget, the planner omitted under-cabinet lights to put in recessed lighting. I vetoed that because I really want the under-cabinet lights; we decided we could live with our 1990's track lights. They also worked with our kitchen which has an old butcher block in the middle of the floor with a pot rack hanging over it. Track lights that can be directed are the only way to get light on the block which is my main work surface. Now I'm second-guessing myself even though I know the budget won't allow a big change. I'm wondering if anyone has seen any less dated-looking track lights that aren't going to bust the budget?

Thanks.
