fwiw, i love my ice in the door. the water is not refridgerated though, which makes me nuts--if i get water from the fridge, i want it cold!! i'll know better for next time. hth!

Why waste thousands of dollars on a sub zero (which has one of the worst repair records in the industry, and Jennair isn't much better. You should look at the Samsung 25 or 29 cu ft french door. My French door Samsung (they manufacturer for GE) has been the best refridgerator / freezer I've ever owned.

If you are going for a built in look here is a suggestion.
On the wall where the refridgerator will go, have your base cabinets installed away from the wall to be flush with your refridgerator. Yes you counter top will be about 4-6 inches deeper on that wall BUT you can utilize this spaceat the rear with appliance barns with no loss of usable counter top space.

You don't say what range or cooktop you are thinking about purchasing, but most offer excellent hoods to match the cooktop, range in a varaity of styles.
