Long-time lurker, have courage to post and need for more info! Thanks for all the great posts!

I am trying to eek out the most possible space in my small kitchen remodel. Considering how to maximize under-sink storage while still having a permanently mounted undersink filter. Has anyone installed these in their basement under kitchen sink? Any reason this wouldn't work since you only replace cartriges every 6-12 mos. anyway? Someone mentioned it on the Plumbing forum, but I was curious if anyone here (the kitchen experts!) has experience with it.
