I've too many question about your project. Could you explain it? i. e. Did the quality of the existing house justify removing the roof or is this less costly than I'd guess. Thank you for the before and after shots.

The clients program justified adding the second story. This is a major renovation, and is considered new construction based on the scope. A lot of the original house including the footprint, foundations, and some perimeter framing were recycled into the new design, however. This was a cost savings decision as well as a more responsible design approach (in lieu of bulldozing the original house down and starting from scratch). Thanks for your question, and I'm glad you enjoy the photos.
