I'd just go with a simple, country style painted white.

Look, you've already done all the hard stuff, choosing cabs, stone etc. It's time to relax and enjoy. If you end up hating what you've choosen, it's the easiest possible thing to fix.

I love your kitchen! I would def. do a white french country style stool. i like the way you have mixed the dark woods with the white! Where did you get your cabinet pulls? I LOVE them!

I would personally do french country chairs (with backs would work well, or stools if you prefer) in a darker colour, not white. I think you should have a contrast there and have a gradual introduction into the warmer colours in your eating area.

I love your kitchen, have something very simular myself in size and style. I think you already have enough white and need to mix it up a bit, why not buy unfinished stools and paint them the same green as you have in your table cloth or yellow for some contrast? If you don't like painted furniture, go with a wood finish. Either way you need something to offer contrast to the white and neutrals. It will help make it POP!

I think white would look nice, as long as it's not all white. If the seat is seagrass or woven jute it would add a nice textural interest. Cherry that coordinates with your table would look good too and stand out from the white. I also think a white stool with a fabric slipcolor would look sharp. Have you checked out the stool selection at Pottery Barn?

Amanda: Thanks for the compliments on my cabinet pulls. I got them online for $2.49 each! Heard about them on this forum. I "think" they came from "my home hardware" or something like that.
I hadn't even thought about white stools. I keep going back and forth trying to match the dark cherry furniture or going totally opposite and getting metal stools with a pewter finish. If I got stools to match the cherry wood, do I have to match my dining chairs? I want stools with a back that swivel with no arms. I can find stools that match my cherry wood, but they're in a totally different style than my ladderback dining chairs. I'm so MUCH a matchy match girl, it's terrible! Below is a link to a stool I saw at JC Penney that I thought would look nice, but not sure if it's too much.

I have seen counter height chairs like the below that are modern in style, but I wonder if any are like an Henri II chair. The exact pic below isn't a suggestion, just the style.

Or, maybe you could use those chair slipcovers (something like this) to place over relatively plain stools. They could be made out of a co-ordinating print to the table cloth.

bbtondo, those Adolpho stools are really ornate. I don't think they're a fit. I did choose to match my barstools to my hardware and appliances. They're simple swivel chairs from Crate & Barrel. I think pewter chairs with backs would look great as well as white with a woven, painted or fabric cover seat. I'd pick cherry as my last choice.

There are always these as well...Village Swivel Barstool (JCP) [cherry or black--assuming they've fixed the finish problems w/the black ones]

Both LindyBarts & I have them (LindyBarts' Kitchen (in FKB))

But I'm not sure either the Adolfo or the Village go with your kitchen...I think you may need simpler lines.

Have you thought of a black...but then again it might be too dark. I'm not the greatest at visualizing things, sorry! But others may be able to chime in with how they might look. FWIW, the ones I've linked are very comfortable! Everyone seems to want to sit in them b/c they're so comfortable!

I agree, i think the stools should pop against the white, and not be too matchy matchy with your chairs.

Ruby7: Those stools with the rush seats would really match, but we want swivel with a back. I think that's where my problem is. If I didn't want swivel with a back, JC penney has a ladderback stool with a rush seat that would match. But, I'm not nuts about them.
Anywho, I think I made a major mistake, because I asked DH what he thought.... He likes the JC Penney one that I think is a little over the top that I posted a link to above. So... I caved and ordered them! This entire kitchen has totally been my choices, I've had complete control (DH wanted stained wood), so being the loving DW, I figured I'd get the ones he likes. I'll show you pics when I get them! If they look really bad, I can always return them to the local Penney's.
