C&B Colette Bed replica?

I am thinking of getting the C&B collette bed for our guest room, but do not like the price....I found this one on Overstock's site that looks like a pretty close rendering...I've never purchased furniture from them and the idea of paying to ship it back plus the hassle involved isn't appealing (should the item not measure up to standards) and would be interested in feedback from anyone on this...Would you take a chance on this purchase?

There is also a seller on Amazon as well...

PS...The Collette Bed is about $1000 more than this model...

Thank you!

I've had some good luck with Overstock purchases. But I only buy things after carefully reading through all the reviews and deciding if I can live with any negative aspects mentioned. If the item doesn't have any reviews, I don't chance it.

There isn't a link--does the bed (or another size/color of the bed) have good reviews?

Edited to add: I looked at it--has one 5-star review and Angelo Home stuff usually gets good reviews. the quality is probably ok. However, the way the end corners stick out so far from the mattress looks very odd to me and seems like a real shin-killer.

thank you shanghaimom....yes i noticed the end corners as well, however, the collette bed in the store i looked at had bed linens on it so i really didn't pay attention to the outside corners...it could be similar....i'll go to the C& B website to check that out...

i saw some minor deficiencies mostly on the inside area where the slats are, but i figured we could beef up those areas if needed...yes reviews were good...unfortunately not many of them

here's the original...i don't see a huge difference in the front corners

i'm also concerned about the fabric...really hard to tell from the photography...the colette bed fabric (stock) isn't anything particularly special either, so i'm not sure if i should make much of that

My master bed is the Colette. I really like it. It is a solid bed with classic lines. I will say finding the money to pay for it was a challenge and a game. I sold gold, put items on eBay, and redeemed points. I know that there were other less expensive options, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle sending the bed back.

I do regret not doing more research. Crate and Barrel has a collection of upholstered beds - Curve, Grid and Quadrant. The curve has nailheads and a platform at a much lower price point than the Colette ($400 less). Have you seen that one?

hi diva...well, i actually went ahead and ordered the 'clone'...with the free shipping and 15% discount at overstock, the bed is under $600 (compared to $1799, plus tax, delivery, which would put it closer to $1900) more budget for new bedcoverings and linens (yay!)

i figured for the price differential it was worth the risk..i can always send it back if i hate it...

yes, i looked all of the beds at C&B and i kept coming back to the collette because of the elevation off the floor....the bedroom is relatively small, 12x14, with hardwood floors and i wanted something that would expand the floor visually..

i'll be sure to post about the clone either good or bad...it won't be delivered until dec. 27

If when you receive your bed you aren't happy because it's not exactly as described or if it has any defects, I've found that overstock.com will pay return shipping. Their customer service is great, so if the description or picture is not the way it really is, they're super about returns--they just send a prepaid label via email if you call and explain. But here's hoping it's just what you wanted!
