Kitchen Backsplash Feedback

Here is what I am planning for my kitchen backsplash, it will go over a gold color granite.Bottom part of the pic is the granite,

a) Planning to use the glass tile as kind of thick border and above that the stone tiles as shown in pic

b) Was also wondering if its a good idea not to have the tile trim (pencil tile) between glass tile and stone tile,

c)Use the glass tile as trim, stone tiles touching the counter top 4 pieces of glass tile as trim and again stone tile above ..

Please advice what suits best. Kitchen style semi-contemporary I would say (Shaker style Cabinets)

Thanks

I love the glass tile and granite combo! I did use the pencils because I thought it would be a nice transition b/w subway and mosaics but it would have been much easier and cheaper if I had not. I have allot of outlets and when it came to cutting around them the pencils were a bear to cut for a DIYER. So I added another row of mosaics to avoid having to cut the pencils.

Ooohhh... I love those glass tiles, deesh! Where did you find them? What are they called?

I personally like the tiles without the pencil - feels more contemporary to me, but when I looked at MaryBeth's kitchen, it does look really nice!

I like the tiles alot. I think I'd do a row of stone set square, then the roughly 3" - 4" row of glass, and then how about doing the stone set as a diagonal on top of the glass. In your setting, I prefer no pencil liner.

Thanks for your feedback, yeah I fell in love with the glass tile the first time I lay eyes on them. Marybeth your backsplash has turned out really good, I think adding another row of mosaic has made it better.
momandallie picked up the tiles from Home Depot, dont have a proper company name but called premium tile mosaic Brown Blend.
I think will drop the idea of the glass tile as border, as for the pencil still debating :)

I like it! I just love that glass tile! I think if you want a more contemporary look I would skip the pencils. The more of that glass tile you use the better!

I did something similar, but without the pencils. I just felt like the pencils were too distracting. My mosaic has a mix of travertine and frosted glass.
