Antique White Kitchen Decisions

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and need some advice/suggestions on my kitchen remodel. We have completely gutted the kitchen and plan to do a complete remodel. As of right now, we have chosen an antique white cabinet with a hint of a brown glaze. I love soapstone for the counters, but my fiance has ruled against it. So instead, right now, I'm thinking of going with a honed soapstone counter instead. I also love the look of carrara marble, so we were thinking of doing a 3" x 6" carrara subway for the backsplash. We will have oak floors in an undecided upon color. My question is, does anyone else have this combination of materials in their kitchen. I am torn, mostly because the cabinets are an off white color. Any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry! I meant to write a honed jet mist granite instead.

you should be able to find TONS of pictures on here! just type in the google search box (not this sites search box) white kitchens black granite pics garden web...or something along those lines and you should be able to get some links.

Thanks MIssy! I've looked endlessly, and I guess I just can't find anything that looks exactly like the cabinet we are going with. The door style is more traditional and raised as opposed to the shaker style that most people have used. We have the option of going with a true white shaker, but I'm not sure I like the starkness of it. My biggest problem is that some people have said that the antique white cabinets with the brown glaze, with the dark counters, and the grey tones in the carrara are too much. Now I'm doubting my decisions...I've attached a link to the cabinets that we're planning on using as of now, but they're are much creamier in person that they come across as in the picture.

I have a carrara backsplash in my kitchen, not the entire thing but partially. I also have semi distressed cabinetry, not as antique as you're describing but it and probably more white, but maybe it'll give you some ideas.

jgopp, your kitchen is actually saved in pictures of my favorites! I love EVERYTHING. Our limitation is that we are on a strict budget and will be using RTA cabinets that are only available in limited finishes. Our space is small, so we feel that we have to go with the white. When I look at the close up of your cabinets, the finish reminds me a little of the glaze on our cabinets, it's very slight, not all over. Would you say that yours are a truer white or more of a cream color?

Lauren: Thanks so much for the compliment :) Yeah the burnished edging is very slight and from a distance most people don't notice it but it really warms up the cabinets. Honestly the cabinet color changes with the light, sometimes during a bright sunny day they are a clean bright white, but when it's dark and rainy like today, they appear more creamy. I find that this makes my finish very appealing. Good luck with the renovation, prepare for some dust ;)

Thanks jgopp. We've already done the demo, and we have plaster like you, so we found out about the dust the hard way. It will be worth all the mess in the end though. :)
