The ORB will relate to the dark island top while befitting the more rustic brick on the island, which I think is fabulous btw!
For the backsplash, something a bit quiet since the granite has so much movement. Maybe some tumbled beige colored stone with copper accents, your floor looks slightly copper colored on my monitor.
It's a beautiful space already!

I agree about the ORB working with your brick. I'd do a very subdued backsplash because of your granite and brick "patterns".
Stainless might work or a very simple tin tile. Then again, a basic large format subway in a soft white or off white could not go wrong.

I really wanted more of a contemporary kitchen. I know the brick does not go with contemporay but I did the brick because i didn't feel my 2 boys could destroy the brick. Most my fixture are brushed nickle. and appliances are stainless steel. Thanks so much for your ideas. Is there anyway to still make this sortof contemporary.

You could do the stainless bs and then the brushed nickel in a very modern style for the hardware. That with contemporary light fixtures would give you a more modern industrial and less traditional vibe. The brick can go either way...

How about a mod pewter? It will take you anywhere from faux colonial to scandinavian modern. You might be surprised what pewter looks like these days.

The clerk at a good store recommended the Rusticware pulls for their heftiness--good deal for the price, she said. It walks the line between very modern and very classic utilitarian.

You will also notice some black items, which I think would go well, if that's a good match for your taste. I would like it with the brick and I would point out the very classic molding over your doorway as a clue to the rest of my thinking. And I'd look at Justice Lighting and click my way through their black trimmed items. Just to browse. It's a modern company but some of the pieces also walk that line between very contemporary and yet with historical references. Other companies also have stuff like this, but can't recall their names offhand.

If I remember right, you must have decided to go with the layout in your original floor plan? I'm a little surprised, but hope you're loving it.

If you want to lean this toward contemporary, I'd stick with stainless or brushed nickel and get something as simple and industrial-looking as possible...so you end up with the industrial-loft sort of style. If you ever watch HGTV, there is a show called Super Renovations or something like that (I don't have cable and just happened to catch this show and episode when visiting my dd), in which there is an episode that shows the renovation of an old 'Victorian' building in Denver. There is lots of stone/brick, concrete, rustic wood and stainless. I've seen similar remodels done with older buildings, often ones that weren't houses to begin with. But I think you could accomplish the same sort of look in your new home.

Contemporary, that changes things. Scratch my first suggestion. I found some pics that have a nature-meets contemporary feel or contemporary with a rustic accent thrown in here or there.... hope these help to give you some ideas....
