Kohler Whitehaven - any thoughts?

Has anyone seen or installed this new apron front sink from Kohler? Looks interesting.

Wow, I love them. I am seriously thinking about installing one in our new house.....when we build. They seem to make a very neat and clean install according to the Kohler video. Having a 31" basin area adds to my temptation. They are designed to be easier for installation but the 36" width has me scared about how custom the cabinet has to be.....especially since I'd like it in the corner. I love apron sinks, but I really like the way they look in the corner. Kohler gave me no extra help when I emailed them. Pictures and information about 36" apron sinks are limited and I don't live anywhere near a Kohler showroom. South Jersey stinks for anything good! It's just been in the last year that you could buy an induction stove around here. (BTW..This is my first ever post!)

Welcome mydogsmom, hope you get some help. There are many online stores to check out Kohler but I understand it's always better to touch and feel before purchasing if at all possible. I don't know if you'd need a custom cabinet but probably so if in the corner or maybe just semicustom would be possible.

mydogsmom, Ditto on South Jersey. Trying to find anything new or different is impossible. Not even manufacturers can refer to anyone in my area. Good Luck LA

I saw 2 different Kohler ceramic cast irons apron sinks. i was so excited that this was my opportunity for an apron sink that I didn't have to worry about cracking. The two that I saw, just didn't do ti for me. The sink with the drain in the corner wasn't wide enough or deep enough for me. My advice is to make sure that you go to a showroom and check them out. I ended up with a 30 inch Elkay Lustertone Stainless that is 11.5 inches deep. It's not installed yet, but looks great.
    Good luck.

I thought this kohler whitehaven looked awesome online and just looked here for reviews and see there really isn't much. EMH107, why didn't you care for it? Anyone else have comments on this sink? I don't want to do a fireclay because of problems and the warranty on this whitehaven seems amazing. thanks for any feedback.

Has anyone purchased this sink? I too would love to hear any reviews.

I don't have the Whitehaven, but I installed another Kohler cast iron sink last summer with my renovation.
    I love it.

If you are in NJ, check out Ferguson show rooms. In my experience,
    the larger Ferguson showrooms
have a variety of Kohler cast iron sinks on display.

Is cast iron really that much tougher than fireclay? Do you baby your sink at all? I too find it amazing that Kohler offers a lifetime guarantee against chipping, cracking or burning. I already bought the franke AFS for my renovation in fireclay, but I would switch to the kohler if I liked it better!

I had a cast iron white Kohler sink for years, and even renters didn't hurt it!
Love it, and will definitely check this one out before I commit to the fireclay i had planned!

springroz...that's a huge endorsement. I have to find this thing in showroom somewhere. Wish I had not bought my fireclay already....hello craigslist :)

Not sure if this is still a relevant comment since the thread is three years old but wanted to post anyway. We bought our Kohler Whitehaven sink (tall apron) about a year ago but have only been using it a few months. It's really beautiful and everyone who comes into our home comments on it. HOWEVER, if you want this sink make sure you get the stainless steel sink rack at the same time! We didn't and the bottom scratched very quickly. We have no kids and aren't super rough...it was just from washing big pots and pans by hand. I like the sink but I wish the salesperson had stressed the importance of that one little accessory!!!

Stephanie d: your timing couldn't be more perfect. We need to order our sink asap & I have been thinking about this Kohler and came looking for reviews and just read yours. Can I ask, does yours slope in front & if yes, does it bother you at all? That is what I am most concerned about now. Otherwise, I am probably going with this one for our major renovation (practically a total gut job on our entire house).

We just installed a Kohler Whitehaven (long apron) and it slopes pretty significantly. The inside measurements posted on the web site are for the top of the sink. Subtract 1" side to side and a whopping 4" front to back to get the useable area at the bottom of the sink. Using the grid gets you slightly more space as it lifts everything up a bit. The slope doesn't bother me from an ergodynamic perspective. What does bother me is that i didn't get anywhere near the useable sink area that's advertised.

Thanks greasetrap! AvatarWalt, I decided to go for it for the same reason as you pointed out - no other options that I'm happy with. So we shall see.
