X-post - All Clad D5 skillet

I posted this on cookware, but not much action over there:
Found what I thought was a great deal on an 11" D5 skillet at T.J. Maxx Home Goods. First use I saute some asparagus and garlic in butter and olive oil. I notice the oils are draining off to the edge of the pan, and I can actually "feel" with the spatula that the bottom of the pan is not flat across the bottom, but high in the center. Is this normal? I'm wondering if it is intentional to drain off fats and oils? I've been cooking for over 40 years, and it just feels strange, could the pan be warped? Does Home goods sell seconds?? Or is this the way it should be... (about 3/32" in a six inch straight edge)

I have a 12" All Clad D5 skillet (at least, I think it's 12"), and this doesn't happen with mine. The oil sits wherever I pour it in the pan. I have to tilt the pan to get it to coat the whole bottom. I love using the D5 on my big BS burners. You have a Blue Star too, right?

Yes, I have a Bluestar, and my favorite pans are 100 year old Griswold and Wagner cast iron that sit perfectly flat!
I was just wondering if this was a built in design for the new age fat free cooking?..... I may take it back, if they will accept it well seasoned ;)

I have the lidded French skillet from Macy's and mine is like that too.

Good to know may flowers, I wonder if it is the way it is supposed to be? Just feels wrong to me, but I'm an old dog, so I can't learn new tricks ;)

Thanks weed, I really think this pan is not the way All clad intended it to be? I'll take it back to T.J. and follow up..

I would call All Clad, their pans have a lifetime warranty. You should just be able to send it to the company for replacement.

I bought mine (also 11" D5) from Williams-Sonoma and it does the same thing.

I thought it was weird but wasn't sure what to do about it.

Good suggestion about calling AC. Thanks!

Homegoods does sell seconds on a lot of their cookware.

Marshall's used to put Seconds on their label, but I've never seen it on their housewares.

Discussions I've seen on Amazon state that all the French skillets are concave. I've had the pan for a few years and it's never affected anything I've cooked.
