If you search for Dekton on here, you will find several threads re: Dekton and people's experiences with it. However, I think that the fabrication issues have become less of an issue due to fabricators having more experience with it.

Dekton Arga is made to look like Taj Mahal quartzite. My understanding is that the price for Arga and Taj are pretty similar = for me, I would go with a real stone. Taj is VERY durable.

FYI - If Dekton chips, it can't be repaired.

EDIT: I just remembered - Symphony by Aurea Stone is a RGS (recycled glass surface) countertop material that looks much more like real stone. They are much more realistic faux marble/natural stone slabs than any quartz I've ever seen.

They created one to look like Taj Mahal - I believe it's part of their "Harmony Collection" and is called "Taj."

FYI - I've looked at MANY slabs during the past four years while planning my kitchen renovation + three bathroom renovations. I live in a city that is a hub for distribution centers for most (probably at least 80%+) of the brands/manufacturers of countertop slabs sold in the U.S. (convenient because I was able to see full slabs of almost every countertop material I wanted to view).

They also have a Taj style in Aurea Stone's PHI collections (I think it's called "Hat" - odd). It is also RGS - I think the only difference is that PHI is a through body slab. The first RGS slabs (including Aurea's Symphony collection) aren't through body = around a sink cutout there will be solid white because the veining/coloring doesn't run all the way through the material.

RGS is fabricated using the same tools as when fabricating quartz = no issues.

While some people refer to this new material (MSI has it also - there may be others offering it) as "quartz" - it is not quartz (although it's durable like quartz). RGS is now crafted with crystalline-silica free components only (initially slabs still had a small amount of silica in them) = none of the health issues related to regular quartz (during manufacturing and fabrication).

The printing technology (nano ink) is greatly improved on this material which provides the more realistic appearance. The slabs don't look "pixelated."

There is a fairly long post on here about one of MSI's RGS countertops - MSI Calacatta Castana. There have been quite a few people who have installed it and are very happy with it. There are quite a few photos that are included in the post from Houzz users who have recently installed one of the RGS countertops.

Have you looked at Taj Mahal quartzite? There’s nothing like the real thing. I have it in my kitchen and love it, not only for its beauty but also for its durability.
