which Induction cooktop?

I would like a 30" induction cooktop in my remodel and I am not sure which to pick, GE, Kenmore or Bosch?

I noticed GE required 40 Amp circuit and Bosch I think 30 Amp, does that mean the Bosch is less powerful?

The budget is around $2000 but I wouldn't mind spending less like the Kenmore, but the reviews on Sears.com has scared me a little.

I am also doing a wall oven below as the built in, I know you should use the same brand oven under the cooktop, I really liked the Bosch ovens 800 series.. so I am leaning towards Bosch.

Thanks

Have you looked at Diva de Provence ?

You might try posting your questions on the Appliances Forum.

As to having the same brand cooktop & oven, I don't think that's necessarily true...just check the specs of both and be sure each meets the others' specs.

    Good luck!

The appliance forum is helpful and you can do a search there. Kitchens do tend to be more active though.
My research on this has shown that most people are happy with their inductions though Diva and Thermador tend to be regarded very high. However, I dont' think it's significant enough to warrant going out of budget or circumventing specs. I'd suggest getting one you like, that's in your budget, and allows for the wall oven you like to be put underneath. I think if you choose your wall oven first and then pick an induction that's compatible both asthetically and technically that you'll be delighted. Good luck!

I have the 30" GE and love it.

In Consumer Reports, ALL of the induction tops they tested scored higher than ANY of the gas or regular electric cooktops.

Basically, you can't go wrong chosing induction.

I have had the kenmore induction for 1 1/2 years now and love it. I really wanted the efficiency of the induction and have two small children so the safety was also a plus. I didn't want to spend excessively for a unit either. I am not a professional cook by any means nor aspire to be, but I again with two little ones, the quick boiling and quick controls were very appealing. I find that it works great for my needs. I don't know much about the specifics between the different manufacturers, but I have been very pleased with the performance of mine. The Kenmore is made by electrolux if you didn't already know. They are a good brand and Sears has nice customer service, so I felt comfortable with the purchase, along with a great price.
    I hope this helps.

Electrolux makes a "hybrid" that might interest you. It is a combination of electric and induction elements. Haven't seen it working but Kelly Ripa seems to like it on TV....

I am also shopping for an induction--I have been told that the new Kitchenaid induction is excellent. The keypad is a little less "busy" than the GE and the price is comparable. I think that with the Thermador, you are mostly paying for the panache of the name. Has anyone else used the Kitchenaid?

Thanks, I know about the Electrolux Hybrid, would love it so I can keep my aluminum non-stick pans, but I don't want it because I am afraid I will forget one day, get mix up and get a burn.

I have the GE Profile Induction 30" cooktop. I've had it for about a month. So far so good. I like that the touch controls are just the right sensitivity. The only thing I'd change if I had to do it all over again, would be to get a 36" stovetop. Reason being, on the 30" it's a little crowded when you get several large pans going on it at the same time.

As others have already said, there's a huge amount of information in the appliances forum. When I was looking at induction the things I found most important to consider are:

hob size and configuration: how many of your commonly used pans can you fit on the cooktop at the same time and where do you want your most powerful burner.

size: many of the 30" cooktops require a 31-32" cabinet. Make sure you check the cutout size if you can only fit a 30" cabinet.

hob size: do you need a burner larger than 9"?

Do you want shut off timers: a nice feature (though not really necessary) most don't have them.

There are many discussions about power but really, most of them provide more power than you'll ever need. I currently cook on an 1800 watt portable and it is VERY powerful. Induction is an amazing way to cook. Good luck.
