Kitchen Appliances

Hello all - new to the site as a member, but I have used it to help with many purchases in the past - so thanks for a great forum. We are building a new home in Cincinnati and just started the kitchen appliances work. In our last home we put in a Miele dishwasher, and it became our favorite appliance ever. So that's decided.

I have a few questions here that I could use some help with for anyone that would like to jump in. I'm looking for your best recommendations for appliances. For budget, we are ok spending more money to get function, reliability and quiet, but we are not luxury buyers. We are not huge cooks, but we boil water a lot and do use the cooktop for basic items. For appearance, my wife likes clean lines and traditional. The oven and fridge should match since they will be near each other.

1. Induction cooktop: We never considered this, but heavy sale at store. My wife is not crazy about the modern look. If we do go this route, would like one that is not a shiny black top. What do we give up with the induction. Lots of rave reviews here.

2. Fridge: We would like a side by side here either 36 or 42. Quiet is key and ice dispenser.

3. Oven: All we need is a microwave and regular oven. The regular oven is for cupcakes and cookies mostly, maybe a turkey once a year. Thoughts on the touch panels (although this seems to be on all)

4. Brands to stay away from: From the looks of it, KA and Jenn-Air get spotty reviews. Bosch reviews seem to be increasingly rough too. I'm not a big fan of GE. Any recommendations on what to stay from?
