The Leicht site says they have 9 price points. What did your bid look like for sort of how much cabinetry? We used InnerMost from Home Depot which is a higher end cabinet in HD terms and we like them a lot. I suspect that makes them less than Leicht but definitely more than Ikea. Perhaps you should check with the Leicht dealer and ask about those other price points.

If you go custom, do they have someone in mind who builds frameless cabinets in your area? Most custom, at least in the US, is framed.

It was about 28 linear feet of lower cabinets, 7 tall cabinets (oven and built-in fridge) and some floating shelves with lighting. It was priced in a laminate for all and also veneer for the tall units for comparison.

Price didn't seem too bad but we're building the entire house so budget is tight.

We have considered Ikea with custom doors and it may end up the route we take.

We are in Austin, TX, so a lot of those European mfrs aren't brands we can get or don't have dealers near here.

"built-in" fridge can be replaced with cabinet depth, as is the case commonly now for homeowner savings. Cabinet depth fridge with appropriate assembly of cabinets around will save some and perhaps a significant amount.

The concern with Ikea is that this isn't diy because it is new construction. The GC wants reliable trades he can coordinate with for installation. Also finding someone to build and install Ikea affordably seems to be an issue.

Also trying to figure out all the Ikea parts that would fit is not my strong suit.

jplouis, what did you end up going with and how dd it turn out? What was the cost, and how did it compare with Leicht? For our studio, the quote we got from Leicht for kitchen plus Murphy bed was over $50,000. Alno was aver $20,000 and did not include Murphy bed. Bentwood is coming in at about $20,000 for high-gloss lacquer, but includes the bed (and seems like higher quality than Alno). Can't wait til were get this built. Afraid to get a quote from a contractor, though. At this point, the design has been 100% d.i.y.

I am in Houston TX, and just got Leicht cabinets installed. I do not recommend them.

all the above cons mentioned is true. The team at the shop was not forthcoming and not transparent with that info. Also measurements they took were wrong, I wanted to reuse my expensive countertop so I stated with the same kitchen design. Only to find out the cabinets were 4inches longer. I had to get the builder back to adjust my pantry and fridge opening; because they would not own to their errors and wanted to charge me again or steering me to buy different cabinets.

The owner seemed irritated when I asked for ideas or solutions to fix the errors,,, he preferred that I take the blame for their incorrect measurements, rather than come to the house and offer solutions to make the kitchen look right.

All in all I had a very bad experience. Instead I recommend Foscari Interiors ( better quality cabinets accurate measurements and better designers) I Used them in my other house. I would also recommend Snaidero kitchens, seemed their product is superior yet the price is comparable to Leicht in Houston.

The critical comments about Leicht are disturbingly similar to my experience with Leicht Seattle. Great sales team, inability to measure correctly, lack of transparency, then blaming the client and terrible follow-up when something goes wrong. I wouldn't recommend Leicht to anyone. With these problems duplicating across multiple foreign vendors, I think the poor customer service must originate in Germany.

Sorry to add to this, but I agree with the comments above on Leicht. Just got the cabinets installed and it’s not been a smooth experience. Customer service was horrible and some of the measurements were off. And you think you’re getting a luxury brand but the looks and service up front can be deceiving. I basically agree with all the above statements concerning Leicht!
