Dolan Designs Lighting?

I'm trying to pick a light fixture for the kitchen w/o seeing in person. (my small galley just has one fixture). i am deciding between one from Dolan(top) and one from Murray Feiss (bottom). I'm familiar enough with Feiss to go from the picture, but never heard of Dolan, so don't have a fix on quality. Any input would be great..also if you want to pick which you like. :) i'm wondering if the dolan will give off as much light as feiss. (both are three-bulb)

I like both of these fixtures.

We have some Dolan lighting. My husband likes ultra hefty everything, so thinks some of the Dolans are a bit light, but I'm perfectly happy with them. (He's also seen some without realizing they were Dolans and used them as examples of what he likes, so....???) They have nice styles for prices I can afford. They're just going to hang from the ceiling, not get a lot of wear from anything, so I'm just not that picky as long as the fit and finish looks nice enough.

These 2 look like they'd give off fairly equal amounts of light as long as they take the same wattage bulbs. What are their diameters? I think I remember your Dolan choice being fairly small, but I don't know what your preference is. I like broader lights so I can be sure it won't look like a hallway fixture. I had an approx 18" fixture in our 9 1/2 ft wide kitchen in our last house, and that's the kind of size I like.

We have Dolan pendants and chandelier and are very happy with them-- and also Dolan's prices were better compared to others. I got mine online without seeing them, too.

thank you both for the endorsements!
yes, the dolan is slightly smaller 13.25" diameter vs 15.75" for the feiss. i can't go much wider without worrying about the cabinet doors --which go to the ceiling -- hitting the light! (current is 14"w).

and, you're right, rhome, i rarely even notice my fixiture! as long as i know it is decent quality, i'm fine..i have so many other things to obsess over. granite choice, tile choice, appliance choice.....

glad, which one did you finally choose? are they installed or is it too soon to ask for pictures of the lights in the room? (not meant to add any stress, sorry!)

Hi petrea! too soon. :) i will be ordering in the next couple of weeks; just got the cabinet order in a few days ago. i'm going with the gravity because i think rhome is right about the other being too small. that's the kind of thing that would have occured to me seeing both in person, but scale kind of gets lost when you just look at pics on the internet!

Oh, I was afraid so .... I just really like both your choices, the style is so perfect for what I had in mind so I was eager to see how it looks in surroundings. Patience is a virtue, I'll wait it out! My cabinets are not coming in until mid January so I have plenty of time to get obsessed about everything else :)

yep - plenty to obsess over. sounds like we're on a similar schedule(so you may not see mine in time). for me, everything is getting its week to keep me focused. last week was cabinet week. this week is granite week -- though the snow storms may push things into next week, which is supposed to be appliance week. :) and sorry for the typo on your name in previous post. my typing really needs a board with an edit function!

I think the board needs a spellcheck! (for me too :)) I was hoping to get my walls & ceiling incl. lights ready before the cabs get in (actually, before the new floor too) - I have only a short cabinet run in much bigger room. I guess I am in my lighting week :) Thanks so much for responding and good luck with planning, I'll be surely looking for your kitchen progress pictures.

i was going to put my light in, also -- maybe just to have something done! but it is a narrow galley and my super, who is doing some of the work for me, said it should go in late so it doesn't get hit or get in the way when cabinets, etc are going in. i guess that is not an issue with a bigger kitchen.

Just wanted to chime in that the lights in my kitchen, entry and dining room are from Dolan and they seem really nice for the price.
