Question about mounting a sink

I have a very small area - a single cabinet, that my kitchen sink rests on. I was interested in whether or not it is both possible, *and* whether it would look odd, to get a ceramic apron-front style sink, drill a whole in a heavy table for plumbing, and simply rest the sink on top of the table?

I realise the table would have to be low, in order to not make the sink too high. I only found one example of this when doing an image search online; it seems to be done more commonly for bathrooms. I don't have countertop around my sink, so that isn't an issue.

I ask because it would be much easier to find a sturdy table to do this with, rather than get a custom made or cut undersink cabinet unit.

Does this seem like it would work?

Thanks for any opinions and advice!
