Making headway w/layout

Spent the morning at a big box just to see on paper how some of your suggested changes would look. Overall it was a nice visit but the KD was surprised (or relieved) that for a first go around I was so well informed on what I wanted...thanks GW!!! The weather was a bit bad so there is not a lot of finish work to these pic's.

I am 95% sure my cab's will be custom built so the fridge area will house 30" deep base cabinets, and the side fridge pantry was quickly thrown in as another option.

These drawings also include changing my sink down to a 36" base which is still an option I keep going back to, as well as even a 33" if it means more functional storage. (Love my existing sink but it is a honker.)

Here's the new question...Should I consider a small working pennisula to the right of the stove? Or would that be overkill for the traffic flow and size of the kitchen?

I would like to incorporate some shallow to the counter cabinets here some where, to suggest a built in appearance typical to a vintage farmhouse kitchen. By the stove for spices? By the DW for serveware? By the fridge for snacks and coffee? All three?

I really like your layout...very efficient and great details :)

Love the sconces and it balances out your big sink. I love the big sink and think it would tie in really well if you used the silver/stainless type hardware...maybe something kind of vintage.

I think your cabinets down to the counter would look great on either side of the stove. I do think a peninsula might block your traffic flow and make the kitchen seem smaller, some how.

Over the diswasher area (under the upper cabinets) maybe a built in shelf under, for coffee cups or small drawer storage.

Where's your microwave? Would it fit on a shelf, next to the fridge? If you made your upper cabinets next to the fridge a little smaller, you should be able to fit the microwave under them...and still keep your countertop open for your 'landing' area.

I think it looks great and I can't wait to see you get started! Nice plan and very nice details :)

I don't think the peninsula would help you...WOuld block your path from stove to fridge and pantry.

I, of course, am glad you decided to swap your fridge and stove.

I wouldn't hem in the stove with to-the-counter cabinets, and I'd also want to leave the counter open by the fridge for the kids to work on their snacks. I can't see the pics too well (the layout is missing here and the pics on photobucket are still tiny), but I think the perfect place for a cabinet down to the counter is the upper to the left of your dishwasher.

Thanks LL, I feel it is moving forward, inch by inch. My micro will be OTR because I don't want to give up counter space and DH has incentive points we must spend, and the micro will eat of some of those, so if I don't like it, I will switch it out later with a hood.

Rhome, I am having great trouble converting my scans even using Beuhl's advice-UGH! It is frustrating for sure. Thank goodness you have a "kitchen design" mind! I have already forgotten about getting to the pantry!
