You're right.. The backsplash isn't working with the travertine. How about using the same travertine as the shower floor...but install it on a diagonal? Or, just install a glass backsplash (painted behind) the color of the floor?

Or, take an extra shower tile with you and next time you are in the paint store (or big box store), check out their paint department and pick up some paint samples that are as close as possible to the color of your vanity and of your sink. Then wander over to the tile dept. with your tile and color samples and it will be easier to see what appeals to you.

The more I think about it...just paint the entire wall a latte mocha color in a semi gloss and do NO backsplash. Not too busy, easy to clean and complements the tile work.

I can't justify new back splash when what you have is new? Just find a rug that works well with the back splash (in a gray) and again find a shower curtain that does the same thing. Changing those two items will upset the current balance and will work well to have your back splash make sense. It will look as though you planned it that way. Ha, ha, ha! The rooms with the biggest mistakes are the candidates for spectacular outcomes because you have to think outside the box. :)

I like the tiles with green in them, but also like the idea of not backsplash. You really don't need one for the sink. If you don't get the green tiles and you still want to tile, I like using the shower floor ones instead of introducing another tile.

The vanity and it's backsplash are in their own world and the floor and shower are in a different world. The backsplash needs to coordinate with the floor at least, and the vanity and mirror shelf needs to be painted a rich espresso brown to go with the floor. These look black in the picture. I agree that your chosen backsplash doesn't quite go with your other tiles. It's too cool next to the warmth of the floors and shower. We carry a stained glass tile called matchstix that I think would look beautiful here. The first picture combines the warm light caramel brown and white, and the second has the same warm travertine color, white, light green and a darker brown. Also, I think the small linear tiles will compliment your sleek vanity very nicely.
