need help with an exterior makeover of my VERY 1950's Rambler home with walkout!

we just purchased a 1950's brick rambler style home with a walk-out and tuck-under garage... HELP! NOTHING has been done since the 50's not event the maroon/pink bathroom. i am looking for an and ALL help particularly with the exterior and interior to boot. we live in Minneapolis, MN and i am trending more towards modern/eclectic. any pictures you can share ? thanks and looking forward to the suggestions.

Aren't the two pitches of the roofs very different?
Which would mean the entire roof had to be redone?
I could be wrong.
We were wanting to do something similar, but it was just too much money.
I will say that the before and after photos are striking.
