Summer Projects and help from Frog Tape

Even though I'm inside in the AC for most of the time, the horrendous Texas heat just exhausts me when I do go out (I am outdoors with the dogs when they go out 3 or 4 times a day, and for watering the plants and so on), and I stay exhausted even when I go back inside.
My current project is that I want to paint my study, and of course there is all that prep. A big job. But every time I look at the room knowing I have all the paint and materials, I'm prompted to get started, summer or no.
Frog Tape to the rescue, sort of.
I read the Frog Tape package and it says it has a 14 day clean release. So what that means is that I can do a little work each day but I have to have it done in 14 days.
That seems like a generous amount of time but it makes sure that I won't abandon the project because of summer blahs :)

Great incentive! Sometimes, we just need one little thing to launch us on a project. I hope your painting goes smoothly.

That's very helpful, isn't it? Sometimes a little help can be an inspiration.

The grandkids were over yesterday, bugging me to go outside and play. I told them it was too hot, but they were nice and cool in the house and didn't believe me, so we went outside on the back step to see if it was hot. They turned around and came back inside in about 10 seconds! Take it easy in the heat, Lucille!

The problem with painting a room a little at a time is that you are going to make a big mess. DS has been a house painter for 15 years and says that flat paint is the only kind that won't leave lines when it dries. With paint that has a sheen, you have to paint the whole room at once.

Your DS has a point, but for me, painting the room is the least of it. There is cleaning, spackling, sanding, taping, removing curtains, replacing curtains back into place after, moving furniture, replacing furniture, covering floors to protect against drips.

That's the way I like to do projects. Bite off chunks I can handle. Just looking at single project from beginning to end can be overwhelming to me. But I can just paint one window today. And tomorrow, I can paint the corners without too much trouble. Glad that tape will help you make it manageable!

Just finished priming, may paint later today.
It seems counterintuitive but I found that slowing down makes the total job faster- making sure that there is a cover on the floor for drips, making sure every area that needs to be taped, is, and not skipping steps.

Done.

(Well, except for the closet, that will get painted when it is cooler). And that sweet frog tape pulled right off with no trouble, didn't take any paint with it.
Painting a room, rearranging and decluttering (I took one of the 2 desks out) makes an AMAZING difference.
It's hard to get that 'decorator' look with 5 dog crates in a room, but even if I do say so myself, it looks very nice.
