Need help finish master bedroom

Need your help with making this room cozy and stylish. We repainted the bedroom Restoration Hardware 'Slate' including the vaulted ceiling. I didn't realize how dark it would make the room but we are not repainting for the moment. I tried to bring in creamy white linens to lighten it up, but maybe it needs more and/or an accent color? Most of the furniture in the pics will be staying. Here are the things I need help with: 1) what to do with the tv: Hang it on the wall or set it on a media stand (style/finish?)?? 2) fabric color choices for large chair and ottoman (chair is staying, ottoman is removable) 3) Lamps - need suggestions on color and style 4) Windows - currently have IKEA white linen drapes; should I do something different? 5) Light fixture - currently ceiling fan but this is not enough light so I would like to replace with chandelier. I welcome suggestions.

I think the room is going in the right direction but I just don't know how to take it to the next level. Please help.

You could have the swing arms under the mirrors. Best of both worlds

Love the slate color on the walls. I would repaint the ceiling a very light grey almost white. The feel of darkness in the room is probably because of painting the ceiling grey. Hang the TV on the wall if the furniture is staying put it on a mount that swivels. Then you can angle it or push it against the wall if it is in the way.Lighten up the fabrics on the sofa and ottoman so it matches more with the color of the bedlinens. Add some texture to the fabric. Im a big fan of swing arm lamps in a bedroom they dont clutter up end tables and provide nice light next to the bed. I would get a matching floor lamp for next to the sofa. Get a bigger curtain rod so it extends past the windows. The drapes should go past the windows so you dont have the windows peaking past the sheers. Chandelier would be nice in that vaulted space. I think the chandeliers style would need to match stylewise to the direction you want to make the space. Is the style more modern, transitional, or elegant traditional?

Thank you ,RM&Company. I like the transitional look (modern meets traditional?). The most traditional pieces in the room are the master chest and large chair. I love your idea of recovering the chair in a lighter fabric with more texture. Do you think that will help make it look less traditional and more transitional? I hadn't considered swing-arm lamps but I like that idea! If I mount the tv on the wall, what do I put under it? I will extended the drapes past the windows--I see what you mean. What finish should I look for in a chandelier? Thanks so much. Your suggestions are a big help!

RM has provided some great ideas. The swing-arms in particular are a nice option to free up the nightstands. If you are unable to install electrical boxes, they do make fixtures that have wires for an outlet as well. Here are a few options to consider:

Thats my favorite, personal favorite for style. Yes a natural linen fabric(almost think oatmeal color) on those frames would make it more modern. Here are some ideas for swing arm lamps. Simple is better. Something with a white shade in either glass or fabric.
Put a few choice accessories but keep it clear underneath. Modern=clutterless. I would do a simple design something that invokes a chandelier without being so literal. The chandelier in the photo is made by robert abbey called bling.

Thank you, Whispar. I like your choices for the swing-arm lamps. I was thinking about putting mirrors over the nightstands. If I did, would I still be able to use a swing-arm lamp?

RM, great ideas! I don't like clutter anyway so the idea of moving the lamps off the nightstand means I don't have to pick it up to dust. ;-) Love the chandelier! How big would you say that is?

Mirrors over side tables would look great and reflect light (table top lamps will be needed). Ideas..longer/thicker wood rod and large finials. Try sofa in front of window+floor lamp (furniture looks too lined up) and tv could go in that corner - more hidden and can be viewed from sofa & bed. Centre the high boy and place the ottoman to the right with art above. Sofa is fine (or you could easily slipcover in a linen) just add some colorful pillows. Add extra pillows/layer your bed (will make a big difference). To ground the rug, you could add a narrow bench seat at the end of the bed. For a color scheme, mauves and purples in solids and graphics may be nice.

Thanks, Maureen. I really like the idea of adding the mirrors over the nightstands as I think it will help to the throw some light around the room. The pictures you posted confirm that for me! I'll try moving the sofa/chair and see how that fits. Thanks!

Add more light by installing translucent stretch ceiling, which can be printed with any high resolution image that you choose, over LED lighting. This can be done in a corner, or across an entire wall or ceiling, or any section of a wall or ceiling. These photos are all actual installations that we have done.

Your basic look is lovely. You just need to layer it, give it depth and a bit of fun. I suggest a patterned upholstery for the loveseat and art on the wall above it. Beautiful bedside lamps play up the glamour of the wall colour. Pick up the -- coral? red? -- from the bedding in a cushion, and accessories, perhaps on the sideboard. Stand back and see what else you might like to do. I think, for instance, if you used the bright cushion on the love seat you could still do with another cushion on the bed, just having the two there looks a bit severe. It needn't be a colour, it might just be something with a deep, luxurious frill.
