That's a cool idea. How are you attaching that perch or was it part of the chain?

It is a wooden skewer used for kabobs. I just stuck it through the change.

Okay thanks! I have a whole package of those. Should try one to see if I can get my little one to sit for awhile.

Oops..I had no idea that my pictures would be gone from the forum when I deleted them from files. Now to try and get them back.

Jenny I hope the perch works for you. I have two feeders hanging next to each other and I had a hummer perched on each feeder.

This one is blurry but here is my "Sentinel".The other two that I posted were so clear and now this.

Well I stuck one in where the hanger wire is looped around the shepherd's hook and tied off so I'll see if she notices and decides to sit for a spell. She doesn't perch much on the feeder perches and when she does, she quickly moves from feeder flower to feeder flower, hopping from perch to perch.

Good luck Jenny. I have watched the hummers sit on their perch today scratching and preening themselves. I had four feeding at one time.

I made some good pictures today but the transistion from my fliles to photobucket to here is very unsatisfactory. I am looking for another way to show my pictures.

WHOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!! It worked. Literally just 3 minutes ago, I looked up and she was perched on my little skewer! She sortof preened behind the wing and as I was struggling with the camera, she flew off!

I have a small perch over one of my feeders, and no one is able to sit there peacefully for more than a second this time of year. last fall after the adult males all left, the juvie males would sit there in the rain and preen.

It is like watching them play 'king of the mountain'.
