Are you talking about a vent in the floor on the left? I don't see what the vent looks like.

I found a clear plastic diverter in the hardware store to put over my floor vent that redirects the air flow into the room instead of straight up. Then I put a book case over the vent that has about a 5 inch space under the shelf (book case on short legs) to allow for the diverter. It works great. cool and warm air get where it needs to go and I have a place for my books! Same idea should work with night stands.

It's not a vent, it actually draws the air in, definitely can't be covered.

So its that big white rectangle on the wall?

Can you switch the round table with the new nightstand you're looking for? So the round table is in front of the HVAC? That will give you more freedom with choosing your new nightstand. I'm also wondering if you can either centre the bed under the picture or centre the picture above the bed.

I am planning on moving the round table to the other side! The picture certainly can be moved. At present, the bed is centered in the space.

Okay :-) Looks like a low bed. On your search for another nightstand, look for something that is about the same height as the round table and I'd look for something white, maybe with chrome accents (if the table legs are chrome).
