Is this a weird idea?

This is a beautiful room divider that I found at a consignment shop. I was thinking of putting it at the head of the bed like this. I was also thinking of doing white paint on he outer edge to tie n white. If I do this, how do I secure it to the wall?

I wouldn't alter it, it looks pretty sweet already. Things don't have to 'match.

The easiest way is to hang it from a French cleat. For instance cut a 1/6 the width of the headboard in half with your saw blade at a 45 degree angle. Screw one half to the back of the screen (this will also make it rigid and flat) then the other half to the wall. Gravity holds it on the cleat. The cleat on the wall can be shorter allowing you to adjust the final placement by sliding it along the cleat.

Any suggestions as to what to hang on the wall above it? I have these two pictures to hang elsewhere in the room. A very pretty swag maybe?

Leave it blank above the new headboard- keep your new found treasure the focus.

Love the Muchas. I wouldn't put anything over that pretty headboard. No need to clutter up a statement piece like that.

I wouldn't put anything above the head board. It's already art! Wall lamps would be nice on each side of your bed.

Another reason for not hanging anything above your bed is that it's better to hang art on the sides walls, not above the bed. You'll have a better look at it, from your bed.

The only thing I might put over the bed would be a group of vintage china that reflects some of the colors in your room - not too flowery, more simple because you don't want it to compete with the lovely headboard. (Hover over picture to see whole picture.) But agree, nothing is necessary.
