After little change in our kitchen since the '70s, we decided it was time for a makeover! We knocked out a half-wall at the end of the island, reduced the size of the island to eliminate the tight squeeze between the island and the wall, and by removing the soffit above the cabinets were able to extend them to the ceiling, adding cabinet space.
