Just moved into this house. I don't like the cabinet style or color. I really don't like the granite. I prefer quartz, solid color...black or medium grey. HOWEVER, I cannot change the counters or replace cabinet right now. Anyone have recommendations for refinishing the cabinets? Paint, stain? I'd like them dark. Trying to steer this house into a classic/modern feel. Photos show kitchen prior to the soft putty color it is now. The other is my new dining room color to show the direction I am trying to move here....one room at a time.

Please advise! Also thinking to create a small sitting area in kitchen rather than eat in. Family gathers in kitchen, teenagers. Advise on couch, rug, etc?? We also plan to replace hand rails with metal, cable.
