Thank you all very much for your advice. I have employed some of your suggestions however I'm not a huge fan of houseplants (plus I'm a terrible green thumb) so I opted out of that one. I decided to put a large piece of artwork above the couch however unfortunately it is not landscape and so I am still left with some bare spots on either side of the wall. Should I put up some more artwork flanking it or would that be too much? Any further suggestions would be much appreciated! Thank you.

Agree with smh225, the artwork doesn't work with the feel of your living room. You could also find a painting that you hang horizontally (see pic). In the right corner (facing the sofa) you can not access the dining room because of the ottoman, it totally break the flow of the room, I would eliminate the ottoman.

Gallery wall living room

Your dark sofa and dark art feel pretty heavy grouped over there - it looks like you are working on lightening up the sofa with pillows - but with the light colors in the rest of the space, the two largest scale things throw the room off balance a bit. Can you find another home for that artwork? I know this room has limited wall space, but perhaps in another room?

If you love that art, and want to make it work, maybe add a round mirror above the end table? or a couple of modern style sconces next to the art?

Your sofa is fine. Your tables are dark. The cubies don't work. Love the art.
