Something very large and dramatic with colors in your palette. Art is very personal and I would recommend you visit local galleries and choose something that really touches you and reflects your interests. It could be something very contemporary or a seascape or landscape or cityscape. Or an enlarged photo that you have taken yourself.

Check out Art.com or Z Gallerie online. No one but you can choose your art. I would go with a not too colorful abstract....very large. Nice room

Another great place to order prints and posters is allposters.com. Upgrade the paper. They don't print it till you order it so it can take a few days for it to ship. They do custom framing, or if it's a standard size, you can frame it yourself.

As has been mentioned, you want to put something up there that reflects you and your family's likes and interests to personalize the room. Art is how you bring your personality to your home, and what will make you love it as it reflects who you are.

I agree with Johanne...this is the perfect spot to add some color...playing on the yellow accents is good..be patient and find something you love...visits to local art festivals, talking to the artists and supporting them can add to the enjoyment and story around your art... As an afterthought your tv cord could be concealed with the proper materials from a lamp store.maybe painted to match the wall

I am definitely a fan of large mirrors to open up the space! Maybe even a bright colored frame around the mirror for a "pop". Another suggestion would a large shelf with some candles and plants to add a bit more texture and life to the space.

I'm a fan of gallery walls, but then I have a lot of art that I love and I like to display it. You can find scads of examples of gallery walls on Houzz. And that way you are not committing to just one big piece you may get tired of. But, as others have said...only YOU can pick art.

Thank you for your replies! I bought my rug at RUGSUSA.com and the paint is called elephant grey by Benjamin Moore. This room took a lot of work but it's slowly coming together.

Would u consider a large wooden carved triptych? World market carries hangings like that and I think it would great above your sofa

I would suggest adding a large painting that ties in the accent colors. Saatchi Art has some great pieces!

I agree that an abstract piece with yellow as the focus would do nicely, or perhaps for contrast something in a shade of light blue. Alternatively I would consider some sort of mirror to add a little variety and light to the space. Don't forget a little lighting to encourage warmth into the room, especially in these still cold winter months. Good luck, you have done a great job so far making this room your own. :)

I know you said you got your rug at Rugs USA..
Is it wool? I love love it and is it blue gray or true gray? Which exact rug is it? I need a new rug and I'm trying to go gray..

I'd use a mirror - then on the side a pair of abstracts in your
accent colours. It's a beautiful room but you are running the risk that the black tv will be the focus - a mirror will take centre stage as people are drawn to look at themselves - make sure it's well framed in a modern frame. Then to the far right do the abstracts in a counter balancing size as a pair. That should keep the tv in the background. Good luck and have fun!
